Antigua Projects Gain Planning Approval

April 2024

Richmond Bell were delighted to learn that the two houses, overlooking English Harbour, have obtained Planning Approval from both the Development Control Authority of Antigua and Barbuda (DCA) and the National Parks Authority (NP).

The project consists of two separate dwellings, a main house and a smaller guest cottage further down the hillside. The main house is made from two adjoining buildings set around a courtyard with a swimming pool that looks out across the ocean.

The guest cottage has similar views and also benefits from large verandas and an infinity pool that have views out to sea.

Both houses were designed with the local environment and local climate in mind. They strongly follow the local vernacular in terms of style and materials used, which will help them blend into the countryside. The Caribbean lifestyle also has a strongly relaxed vibe, which is supported by the large terraces that allow for plenty of outdoor living.

In terms of climate, large overhanging verandas provide protection from the sun, with shutters that can be closed off to protect the houses during hurricane season.

Richmond Bell worked closely with Antiguan architects KAD Design to meet all the requirements of the local authorities and are delighted that planning approval has been granted.
